Childrens's Zoo donations

Visitors will have the chance to experience close contact with a wide variety of animals, test their climbing and balancing skills against the animals and discover hidden trails unveiling different experiences, challenges and learning opportunities.

For us to achieve our goal of opening this new exciting exhibit at Easter 2009 we need your help. This fantastic new Children’s Zoo will cost £2m to build. We have already raised over £1.25m and are now seeking the help of our Friends and supporters to complete the project.

Your gift could help to provide:

• A cosy secretive den for the aardvark with secret tunnels for young visitors to explore how these snoozing creatures live underground.

• The mysterious journey to the home of the coati, red panda and parakeets where visitors enter over a rickety bridge before testing their balancing and climbing skills against all these great animals in the exhibit.

• A grooming station for children to experience the role of a keeper, allowing them to get up close to the animals, prepare their feed and see how animals such as llamas and porcupines adapt to their surroundings.

• A secret garden for visitors to combine the discovery of wildlife and plants whilst watching animal displays and listening to storytelling.

Prize draw

• VIP day at ZSL London Zoo, experience a full day of close encounters with some of our largest and most mischievous animals! Chat to some of our keepers and learn about feeding habits, animal training and personal facts of some of your favourite animals. The day will include a lunch for you and up to four family members or friends.

• An explainer-led walk of ZSL London Zoo, gives you the chance to learn more about our animals and conservation work, and to see some of our climbing, leaping and flying friends of ZSL London Zoo!

• A chance to meet our resident coatis, one of our most social animals at ZSL London Zoo. Learn more about the coatis’ new home in the new and exciting Children’s Zoo redevelopment and chat to a keeper about the new exhibit.

• An up close and personal experience with our giraffes for you and up to four other family members or friends. Feed and learn about these magnificent animals whilst enjoying an unusually close encounter with them!

• A free adult Friends membership when you renew or upgrade from an annual pass or adoption, allowing you free entry to both ZSL London Zoo and Whipsnade Zoo for one year. You’ll also receive exclusive access to our Members’ Events and a variety of discounts at our shop and café at both Zoos.

All entries received by Friday 16th January will be entered into the free prize draw.

• Please note, all prize draw winners will need to book their experience three weeks in advance and may be subject to change on the day due to animal welfare or health issues. We will however ensure that if this is the case then the activity will be replaced with another similar one.
